Community Recycling Pop-Up Event!

We are participating in Valley Presbyterian’s Community Recycling event on October 15th, 2022, from 9am – noon, location is 8030 SW Brentwood Street, Portland.

James Recycling will be collecting the following non-curbside items:
#1 PET with no color such as berry clamshells and salad containers
#2 HDPE such as Pak-Tek 6 pack holders and small white supplement bottles
#4 LDPE such as snap-on lids
#5 PP such as take-out containers, lids, and cups
Make sure these items are numbered #1, #2, #4, or #5.

We will also be collecting donations of working hair dryers for the Community Energy Project, a local nonprofit that helps almost 1,000 low-income families in Portland reduce their energy bills, stay comfortable in their homes, and connect to clean energy.  The hair dryers will be used by their workshop participants to install the plastic window film insulation that keeps homes warm in the winter.
All items must be clean and separated by number.  Household plastics only.

Fee is $4/standard grocery bag (or equivalent-sized container).

Other items accepted at this event are:
#6 PS plastics and Styrofoam – collected by Agilyx
E-waste – collected by SBC Recycling
Corks – collected by Valley Presbyterian
Cans and Bottles – collected by the Valley Presbyterian Youth Group for their ongoing mission activities.

We hope to see you there!

Do you or do you know of a place that accepts thicker plastic packaging materials–e.g., the covering of multipack toilet paper packages, prescription bottles/lids, screw-on lids to beverage bottles.

Thank you for the work you are doing!
